Design Process, InDesign Workshop - OUGD405

Workshop sessions to learn the basic skills to achieve the knowledge of producing work in Indesign.

Session 1

The first session was to learn the basics of how Indesign works. Firstly looked into how to open and create documents. We looked into the main elements when using the software i.e. looking at the pages and links.



Another step we were shown was how to link images within work and the importance of doing so:



Looking into the two ways of scaling imagery:



Learning how to use boxes for both text and imagery:


Again another use of the box tool and looking at place holder text. How it makes creating layouts without the correct body copy makes for easier designing:


Learning the different techniques to work with both text and image. Showing how type can be moved and how type can run-around imagery:



Looking into pages and how to delete and add them. Also learning how to create different/more interesting layouts if necessary:


Finally in this session we looked into colour and swatches. How layouts will work better with swatches rather than the colour picker when it comes to printing. Learning how to create more swatches with as less inks as possible:
