Design Principles Session 3: An Introduction to Type - OUGD404

In this session, I was revisiting my type I had created for 'the font family' study task.

Criteria for success:

- Readability and Legibility
- Works as a font family
- Consistency of modification
- Distinction
- Consider method of making
- Ongoing evaluation from criteria feedback

More general observations:

- Accuracy
- Italics
- Weights
- Hand Rendered
- Review of Modification

Italics - No more than 12 degrees for italics (Some push to 18, some to 8)

How far you take it, defines the readability.
SHEER - Half the X-height. Maximum is 4 points.

Difference between italic and on oblique:
Italic is for serif and an oblique is for sans serif.

Modification - Distinction = CONSISTENCY

Formulate the Rules (The font family)

1. What am I going to modify?
2. How am I going to modify it?
3. How bold can it be?
4. How light can it be?
How sheer can it be?
