Study Task 1, Type Journal - OUGD404

TASK - Document, Organise and Evaluate and ongoing investigation into type and typography using the principles, practices and examples introduced during the studio workshops as a starting point. 

Horrible use of typography. Trying to be appealing to attract customers but the jagged-ness of the type is unappealing. Does not exude the idea of ‘fun and tasty’ food or drink:

Illustrative lose type. Works well with target audience and the type of book it is i.e. childlike type for children’s book:


Like how this type has an illustrated look with interesting use of thick to thin lines, making the type seem more elegant:


T-shirt made for a brief by one of peers. I like the handwritten elements and how it works well with the illustration itself:


Trinity Kitchen. Like this use of type and it works well in context of where it is situated. Effective use of flourishes on the type, for example the ‘T’. It is a decorative script font but not too overwhelming:
