Study Task 1, Type Journal - OUGD404

TASK - Document, Organise and Evaluate and ongoing investigation into type and typography using the principles, practices and examples introduced during the studio workshops as a starting point. 

Found on an old pub, I again like the hand painted style conveyed on the type. It is a serif font, which also has the drop shadow which so many hand painted signs do:


This Halfords logo I found interesting as the ‘O’ stands out to me. It represents a tire on the car and the slant of this ‘O’ represents this further. The italic style of the ‘O’ tries to represent the speed of a car while also representing the type. This is in comparison to the rest of the logo, which is clean cut and restricted much like a car itself:


Use of comic sans. This type is supposed to comes across like a friendly soft type as the building, with it being a medical centre and needs to appeal to patients, wants to convey this idea of friendliness and openness. However it does not, it looks childish not welcoming:
