Design Practice 2 - Studio Brief 1 (Part 2): Further Research - OUGD505

As lenticular is a main element within my design, it was only beneficial for me to look into how these are produced. A lenticular lens is needed to create such imagery which I can possibly look into getting. As my chosen topic is environment related, I need to bare in mind how this would be produced within the industry. Considerations need to be taken into account how using plastic can effect the environment. As plastic would need to be used in order to create the lenticular, I would propose only recycled materials to be used. This would be the same for the inks. However for this brief I wanting to experiment with metallic ink but this would not be the case if in the industry.

As I am experimenting with different inks, I took it upon myself to go the print room and see what is available. Gold can be used for the yellow of the Kingfisher, however there is no metallic blue ink in the Blenheim print resource. After discussing my ideas with a technician, it was suggested how I could use foiling. However after looking into the difference when printed, realised foiling did not have the finished result I am looking for. Vegetable and soy based inks would be used instead of metallics if this were to be produced properly, as the metallic is not as environmentally friendly.

The difference between blue metallic ink and blue foiling. The foil has a much shinier finish compared to the metallic, this would not communicate the message I am wanting to achieve.
